We will provide superior service and assist you in making cremation arrangements that will meet all the needs of your family and friends. Legacy Cremation Services philosophy is that if any family is not satisfied with our service, or if the services we provided were not valuable, we will make it right. This is our service commitment.

Our professionals will provide the knowledge and information you need to make informed decisions. We will guide you step-by-step throughout the entire planning process.  Leave all the details to us; we want you to concentrate on sharing personal time with your family and friends.

When a Death Occurs

If death occurs at a hospital or nursing home, per your request, the staff of the facilities will notify the funeral home. If death occurs at a residence notify the family doctor. If a physician has not been caring for the decedent, the County Coroner should be called. When the funeral home is contacted, our staff will go to the place of demise and transport the decedent to our funeral home. If you have not already been in contact with the Funeral Director we will call you, introduce ourselves, and proceed to answer questions or concerns that you may have. If you are not sure what to do, please contact our firm. Our compassionate staff is available 24 hours a day for immediate assistance.

What are Your Cremation Options?

There are several steps to complete the cremation arrangements. During the meeting between the funeral director and the family all details will be completed. Normally this conference is at the funeral home; however it may take place within the comfort of your own home. It is important to us that you feel comfortable, and for you to allow us to get to learn about the life of your loved one, you and family. This conference is very important to all concerned.

The next step is to gather information for the Death Certificate. This would include the following:

  • Name of the Decedent
  • Age
  • Date of Birth
  • Place of Birth
  • Social Security Number
  • Occupation
  • Industry of Occupation
  • Years of Occupation
  • Years of Education
  • Name and Relationship of the Next of Kin
  • Martial Status
  • Name of Spouse
  • Name of Parents
  • Name and Relationship of Responsible Party

Once the information for the Death Certificate has been given we will offer to assist you in creating an obituary, which can be placed in the local newspaper, and out of town newspapers if appropriate. The purpose of the obituary is to notify friends of the demise, tell a brief life sketch, and to inform friends of service time and place. This usually includes but is not limited to:

  • Name of surviving spouse and place and date of marriage
  • The names of High School and Universities or Colleges they may have attended
  • What type of career the decedent had
  • Organizations, groups or clubs he/she may have belonged to
  • Hobbies
  • Personal information (things he/she enjoyed)
  • Surviving family information such as sons, daughters, brothers, sisters etc.

Writing an obituary could be difficult since there may be many important dates and memories that you want included. It would be helpful to make notes of the information you would want to include in the obituary in advance.
