Making funeral arrangements is never easy, even if you have done it before, but if this is your first time, you will find it even harder to do and may be confused as to what questions to ask.
How our Staff Helps
Our staff is well trained to handle your grief, your cremation services arrangements and the memorial. The first step you need to do is call us, and then call the hospital and let them know that we will be handling the arrangements. We will take it from there once we discuss the cremation costs with you. You have our guarantee that we will never perform any service without your knowledge of the cremation costs first.
After obtaining a few identification items from you we can begin the cremation process, but not until we have what we need by law to begin our duties.
What we need is proof that you are the immediate family or person responsible for making the final arrangements. In Ohio only the immediate family or a person designated by the deceased prior to their death, to make cremation services arrangements.
We also need their driver's license, their Social Security number, any information on service in the United States military, and any life insurance policies. We need these to be able to process the paperwork for you.
Social Security pays a one time death benefit, the military will pay for Veterans benefits that include a burial in a nation cemetery and a head stone, and any life insurance policies can help you pay for the cremation service in Ohio.
If you are a surviving spouse you may be entitled to collect a monthly Social Security payments, or if you are age 18 and still in high school, or children younger than age 18 can also collect survivors benefits.
These are the first things that our staff and funeral director will do as the cremation process is being completed. After that we can discuss any memorial services you want, or we can arrange these when we make the cremation services arrangements. Either way we can add the price to the cremation costs, or we can bill you separately.
The Memorial Service
The memorial service is like trying put someone's whole life into one day of memories. After all every person is unique and their memorial should reflect that.
This may seem like a daunting task but with our help, you will be able to recall memories that are fitting to be shared at an end of life ceremony. Actually we at Ohio's Legacy Cremation Services encourage you to have an end of life celebration. This is a much better way for a final farewell to take place than having a somber service.
