At the most difficult time, your time of grief, the last thing you want to do
is research how to make final arrangements.
- Do your research now. Sure there are plenty of cremation providers in your area. Investigate your options, and compare the prices and the services offered. We are confident you’ll choose Legacy.
- Make sure you have pricing information up front. Legacy cremation consultants will discuss all arrangements in detail, and provide financial information about the options you select, up front. The price of cremation services and programs can vary considerably, and we want you to know exactly what you’re paying for in advance, as we know this will greatly ease your mind. These are the kinds of things we will carefully review with you:
- Where do you want to have the viewing? Viewings can occur at home, at the Legacy premises, at a Masonic lodge, at a VFW, at graveside, or anywhere else you prefer. If you are not having a viewing at Legacy, you will not be asked to pay for that.
- What are the cremation costs? Legacy will take the time to explain each step of the process and the costs involved. There are a wide range of options available for the cremains, and we will go over all the possibilities and costs in detail.
- How many services are you planning? Some families prefer to have more than one service, and this is absolutely possible. We will make sure that you only pay for what you want and we will make sure to include all the costs.
- What happens if you have multiple viewings or services? If this is what you want, our professional cremation counselors will be sure to inform you of all costs associated with transporting the body.
- Check out the services that Legacy provides. We will be there for you in every way possible:
- Help getting the death certificate and help with all other required paperwork: Authorization for Cremation; Release to Cremate; release from the coroner or medical examiner’s office – these documents will help you determine what to do with personal effects such as pacemakers, hearing aids and dentures
- Help going through ALL the options available from traditional and formal to creative and unique
- Help researching your veterans, or Social Security benefits
- Help transporting the body
- Help picking a crematorium where the family can be present during cremation, if that’s what you want
- Help planning a memorial service that reflects the personality of your loved one while satisfying the religious or spiritual needs of the family: music / lighting / flowers, and even photo displays / videos / slide shows / memorial web site
- Note: You can have a traditional viewing prior to cremation, and still keep things affordable; just rent a casket or select a biodegradable casket if you want it to be incinerated
- Help choosing a final resting place, from urns, to cremation jewelry, to scattering ashes, to burial, to above ground vaults
- Help 24 / 7 with support, understanding, resources, and guidance.
Choose from all these cremation options with your budget in mind.
More details about scattering ashes.
This choice is a very important and irreversible one, a decision not to be taken lightly. One of the beautiful things about cremation is that decisions such as this do not have to be made immediately. Scattering the cremains may be done at any future date, when you are sure you are ready. There are two types of scatterings at sea:
- Unattended: Our cremation consultants will respectfully conduct a sea scattering service, and your attendance is not required. Following the scattering, we will place flowers on the water to mark the spot. We record the exact longitude and latitude coordinates which are provided to you in the form of a certificate suitable for framing. The family does not attend when this cremation option is selected.
- Attended: We can provide for a private charter of the vessel to take up to 6 attendees out for the scattering service. You are put directly in contact with the charter service to coordinate dates, times and directions. We do not accompany you on this trip.
Many people prefer to keep things simple and economical
for their families when they pass on.
